There are times when resisting the power of words (and resisting the temptation to use someone else’s loss as a personal platform) takes more strength than giving one’s energy over to this continued madness. Today is one of those days. Even writing this short note feels wrong; dirty.

For protest poets, today brings much attention to those tragic moments when silence often speaks louder than our words. Not only because of today’s horrific events, but because events like these happen all over the world in smaller (and often grander) scales every day, and sadly, they mostly go unnoticed.

If you follow my work, and are familiar with the subject matter, you’ll understand why it feels inappropriate to share any poems for the next few days.
