“ON THE BEACH” with Walruses

There he lay with bloat and tusk upon the shore –
Wallowing upon a glass slickened sand –
Watching as the darkened sky coils around itself –
Chocking life from the sea, the shore, the land –
Unaware as the phantom ray glides through the air –
Circling like a bird of prey, silent in descent –
Below the herd of naked skin, unprepared –
Basks in the twilight of their days –
Fattened by the sloth of ignorance –
Stripped of tomorrow by unseen decay.
